Amanda Kinnear is a versatile educator, performer, clinician and guest conductor in the Southern Alberta area.
She completed her Bachelor of Music with Distinction in 2010 at the University of Victoria. While in Victoria, she studied with Patricia Kostek and became involved with numerous ensembles including the University Wind Symphony, Orchestra and Chorus, as well as numerous community ensembles such as the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra, The Dynamic Trio and Quintet Vivo. Throughout her studies, Amanda pursued Performance and Education, starting her teaching studio in 2008. Since finishing her degree, Amanda has continued to teach and perform around the world. She has participated in the performance of several Canadian and World Premieres including In the Dark by British composer, Amir Mahyar Tafreshipour. She continued her training with notable Clarinetists, Robert Spring, Eddy Vanoosthuyse and Tamara Cuypers at the Belgian Clarinet Academy in 2011 and studied with Jocelyn Colquhoun of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra from 2011-2012. After completing the Level I Kodaly Training Course in 2015, Amanda began specializing in early childhood music education. She has taught early childhood music classes at the Calgary YWCA, Early Discoveries Nursery School and My Kinderhouse Preschool. She has been an active clinician in the city of Calgary for over 10 years and has guest conducted at band workshops in the Southern Alberta area. She has worked with band students from across the province and Western Canada. Amanda continues to perform and loves to share her passion for music with students and audience members alike. |
